hi and stuff...

ok. i just finished writing another song. this one is to complete my genre-requirement for the category of electronica.

ok. i realize this will be hard to communicate in text, but imagine a driving, electronic beat and scale-sliding tune, if you will. sampled lyrics are in italics and will be said in a very somber, yet authoritative voice.

i set the tone by ordering the scone

i set the tone by ordering the scone

i set the tone by ordering the scone

(this concludes the electronica portion of this entry. thank you and mind the gap.)

i just finished watching the winslow boy, a period piece written and directed by david mamet. i saw it once before with my homie, steph, and we both developed a thing for jeremy northam as the impassioned litigator sir robert. the story may be a bit dry, but there is an almost-imperceptible romance that promises to bloom after the end credits. this promise is made through two of the most delightful lines ever to end a movie, which i won't reveal just on the slim chance you ever see the film.

harry of when harry met sally, says casablanca has the best ending line of any movie: "this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

i also got a kick out of the last line in eyes wide shut. if i remember right, it's nicole kidman saying the *f* word. heh.

so that happened.

i also re-watched high fidelity this weekend. i had forgotten what an unmitigated asshole john cusack's character is. he doesn't do a single unselfish thing until the last 20 minutes of the movie. character arc, my butt. he deserves to end up with that monotone girlfriend of his. i mean, i like the movie, but if he was walking around in real life, he should be classified a toxic waste dump with good musical taste.

ok, i think i'm done. heh. but in summary, check out the winslow boy if you're in the mood for a quiet, well-mannered movie about fighting for right whatever the costs. actually, the romance-to-be whirring between the leading man and lady reminds me of my favorite romance story of all time, jane austen's novel pride and prejudice. both plots have the couple-in-question at sassy-bantering arm's-length for a good part of the tale. witty, slightly hostile, repartee seems to be an aphrodisiac of some sort.

sometimes "hate" ain't so far from "love," you see.

(ok, ok. it wasn't my best ending line ever, but it'll have to do.)

the end. roll credits.
