have you ever been to quoted? it's a diaryland page where this chicky named francine takes quote submissions from one and all and then posts them as she sees fit. i think it's such a cool idea. a delicious diary fast food snack and a great way to find cool new sites. i discoved it only yesterday because gray area was nice enough to submit a quote from my page. thanks, gray area and francine! woohoo!

in the spirit of imitation and flattery and brazen idea stealing, i decided to do a mini-quoted entry today highlighting some of my favorite writers from the full-of-juicy-fruit-goodness link list to my left.

so, away we go!

"I, too, always notice the back-to-school weather change, and wonder why it always happens so suddenly -- one minute warm and humid, and sa-snap, it's all cool and chilly and making ya nervous-like for them first moments, when you're in the new class and you're hoping to see some people you know, and there's this little bit of dread and anticipation, like maybe this year it's not gonna suck." -palooka joe

"i gave up, i needed to get out, i needed to get out to that friendly local dance club/bar thing, a few drinks to 'take the edge off.' everyone must think im an alcoholic but im tellin ya, i just needed to get out and see whats going on in that world with people : has anything changed? do they still where pants? are they all concerned with the way they look? dancing, flailing their arms >>> kick the moon - reach for the stars - grab the apple - take a bite from the apple - angst angst angst (anyone here familiar with the staples of a goth's dance routine?)." -gnolly

"i called my mother and told her that the love of her son is worth a thousand hollow bloodlines, and she said 'maybe so, but it ain't no tennis bracelet.' then she said something that sounded like 'i have no son,' but the line was staticky so i'm sure i'm mistaken." -provealicious

"i would like a girl. i would like a girl who lets me play with her hair...i would like a girl who lets me look at an amazing piece of art as long as i want. i would like a girl who lets me know she's ready to go when i've looked long enough, by resting her head on my shoulder. i would like a girl with aspirations, whatever they may be. i would like a girl who likes me as is, but also helps me change for the better. i would like a girl who lets me treat her as she should be treated. i would like a girl that makes me laugh/cry. i would like a girl who will share a toothbrush if there is only one. i would like a girl who enjoys cuddling. i would like a girl who, despite this list, is herself. i would like a girl who likes me at the same time i like her. if that 'girl' is reading this.. if i don't find you in the next year or so, you'll have to come put your head on my shoulder, i've obviously been somewhere else long enough." -rhett

"its big & ugly & gray & its stuck in my throat & i cant swallow it & burn digest it. it makes every word i write fall on the page like BOOMa big wet sand-filled sock landing on a piece of tissue paper. Boring, it says. Simple. Stupid. Ordinary. i cant write like a big red flower anymore, the words flowing out like the play of light on petals." -gray girl

"and oh, yes, friends and family to whom i've confided this assurance try to sway me. 'oh don't be silly... you'll meet someone.' and, at that point, i know they don't know like i know... and i just make-pretend that i believe them. i understand their intentions. i, myself, fight against the idea. in fact, i rather kick and scream against the idea. in the immortal words of the king of siam (through the filter of rogers and hammerstein), this flower runs around from bee to bee to bee, just hoping to be proven wrong." -kuni

"Kiss. Hug. Nose rub. Then she'd duck her head and crawl up inside my arms. Her left arm would always be bent funny and I'd ask her if she minded, it didn't look comfortable at all. But she'd say no, it didn't bother her-- then she'd whisper something about how when we're like this she feels like I'm protecting her." -da man
