corduroy licorice dreamed the impossible dream. it involved him working on an assembly line where cherry bon-bon candies were made. hijinx ensued. the reason that this was an impossible dream is that corduroy would never take a job involving maraschino cherries due to the fact that he had almost choked on a shirley temple as a youth and had gotten a restraining order on the offending cocktail trimming. no cherry was allowed within 50 feet of him...which made dating tough.

oh my god, go see moulin rouge if you haven't already. i LURVED it. it was beyond cool. the first 10 minutes alone are a fascinating visual treat...only to be followed by a couple more hours of mouth-watering eye candy. the musical numbers were cleverly formulated from smilingly familiar pop songs and were knowingly tongue-in-cheek (a comforting thought for those of you who are allergic to musicals). the stars were charming, their singing admirable and the costumes, sets, art direction and cgi amazingly gorgeous and fantastical and breathtaking. i can hardly wait to see it again! i'm in awe of its creators. truly in awe. wherever you are, i kiss your feet for making something so beautiful and entertaining for the world to enjoy.

speaking of beautiful and entertaining...the music by the band built to spill is a heaping serving of both. my friend p-girl had an extra ticket for one of their shows in l.a. and invited me along. what an amazing night. although the theater was hotter than a burning ring of fire, the audience sweat in bliss. the musicianship was remarkable. the lyrics poignant. the lead singer's voice unique and powerful. i was just mesmerized by the guitar work. mesmerized. i guess i've got some more feet to kiss...
