2000-11-21 | 04:28:03 this past weekend, los angeles uncurled like a waking cat and stretched into the glow of crystal clear sunlight--the perfect foil to show off the city's spotted coat of fall leaves. a postcard-perfect weekend. a chamber of commerce weekend. a "this is why the rest of the country hates california" weekend. beautimous. and we do have fall leaves! we do! it's not just clever set dressing, either. i got to spend most of this weekend basking in the sun in the city of angels. you know you glow, baby. i got to learn about solar prominences that could lap up earth like a sticky cat tongue. jimi hendrix may have kissed the sky, but i did him one better. just a lovely, spanish tile-roofed, palm tree-sprouting, pacific ocean-kissing city soaking in the graceful, golden, bending fall sunlight. los angeles. don't hate it because it's beautiful.
