corduroy licorice's days were numbered. some people call it a calendar.

my grandma's funeral service happened on friday and it was really touching. one of my cousins had written up a little remembrance of sleeping over at grandma's with her two brothers and sister. since only three kids could fit in the bed with grandma, the youngest boy got tucked into the opened bottom drawer of the dresser.

she remembered the same things i did: lots of hugs and kisses, the best fried chicken dinners this side of the mississippi and the spooky tick of grandfather clocks during the night.

it was good to see the extended family and realize the legacy my grandma left behind, including 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. she lived a good life and gave a lot of joy to those around her, that's for darn sure.

i saw a so-so french movie called chaos this weekend. it was enjoyable, but i wouldn't call it great. if anyone out there was disappointed that the love interest in the crying game turned out to be a man in drag, the femme fatale in this movie should heal those wounds. she is a curly-haired, exotic creature who is fascinating to watch.

a mix of a thriller and a farce, the film has a good time making fun of the two jerkass male leads. the plot is a bit too convoluted, but there is something satisfying about seeing sisters doing it for themselves.
