corduroy licorice was an on-call volunteer for the city's disaster drill program. he was an accident waiting to happen.

today my friend and co-worker a-girl ran into my office, laughing, and gave me a huge hug, apropos of nothing, and ran back out just as fast--giggling all the way. she swears it was just 'cause. very amelie of her. it brightened my day in a 500-megawatt way. forget singing telegrams. giggling hugs are the way forward.

earlier this week at the gym, an attractive older man touched my elbows unprompted. truth be told, he was kindly correcting the way i was using a weight machine. but i was pretty darn excited at the impromptu elbow rubbing. my first action of the new year. hubba to the hubba, you don't stop.

i'm thinking of printing up bumper stickers that say, "i'd rather be a liberal than a liar."

movie review:

i rented the documentary the kid stays in the picture this weekend and enjoy it muchly. it covers the hollywood career of former studio honcho robert evans. what an entertaining life he's lived, at least to hear him tell it (some say he is less than truthful, he just says he's telling it the way he sees it).

evans narrates throughout, telling how he was discovered poolside and grew to have a hand in groundbreaking movies like the godfather. visually, the documentary directors seemed stretched a bit thin in trying to show the story in pictures, but listening to evans mumble his tinseltown yarn in his film noir detective slangy way is riveting stuff.
