corduroy licorice knew it was time to return to the fold. just throwing his clean laundry in his drawers haphazardly was a new wrinkle in clothing care that he was no longer enjoying.

care to be charmed? a certain ms. musing not only has blessed me with an enduring friendship, she also has some interesting things on her mind. like the entry i linked pondering the world's wasted potential pool. i'm afraid i'm soaking in it.

the holiday weekend over, i returned to a sheetload of work at work. i had to inhale my burrito at my desk during lunch, which means beans could have been precariously lodged in my nasal passages at any moment. the risks i take for the man. plus, i had to stay late, which threatens my workout schedule for the evening. oh, darn!

upcoming evaluation time at work has made me a bit edgy. even when the boss says nice things, i always feel like i'm being sent to the principal's office.

i was sent to the principal's office once in grade school. i can't remember what i did to get in trouble. what i do remember is that i didn't go! i just wandered around the empty hallways and playground until recess and then pretended like nothing had happened. avoidance is underrated, i believe.

at least this whole skipping lunch and working late thing should earn me some points with the man upstairs (as in the second floor of the office). here's hoping! there's no playground to make myself scarce on here. although the parking lot might do in a pinch.

in other news, i saw another good movie this weekend. tv zero told me that he thought it would be up my alley and it was. it's called thirteen conversations about one thing and was directed by newcomer jill sprecher and cowritten by her and karen sprecher.

for some reason when reading the end credits, i was surprised the film was done by a woman...but surprised in a good way. the way it was shot was really exquisite. it felt like a fine tailored man's suit...dark, rich, restrained, detailed and somber. the plot uses the device of telling several short stories featuring characters who intersect in significant ways. the ideas it presented made me think. and thinking is good, i'll wager.

today when coworkers asked me the names of the movies i saw this weekend (thirteen... and lovely and amazing), i got blank looks 3 out of 3 times. that makes me grin. no alien blasting or futuristic homicide shite for this film filly. even in the sum-sum-summatime.

i could do with some chutney right about now.
