i like giving perfect change.

i'll hand the cashier the exact amount, which they'll realize once they finger-slide the coins across their palm. after they arrive at the sum, they'll often announce "perfect!" with a little upswing in their voice.

it's tough to do anything perfectly in this world, so when i do--and a perfect stranger acknowledges it--i get a little upswing inside.
