corduroy licorice's parents knew that one good deed deserves another, so they bought themselves a summer home.

children today just don't realize how important an education is. they often wonder "how will i use these reading, writing and arithmetic skills in everyday life?" well, here is a little story for those doubting thomas god forbids*:

a worker at the l.a. times was recently arrested for stealing money from a 9/11 relief fund. when people called to make donations, he would take their credit card numbers and then deposit their funds into a bank account he'd opened up with the same initials as the fund.

his undoing? the "thank you" letters he sent to contributors were rife with spelling and grammatical errors. the recipients complained and he was bagged.

i guess i done schooled you.

i'm stone cold hooked on wasabi peas. it's all pablo's fault, too. if i hadn't met him for drinks at the hoity-toity ritz carlton hotel bar, i might have never been introduced to my downfall...the wasabi peas, not pablo.

i don't know if you're familiar with the breed, but wasabi peas are your garden variety green peas that have been rolled in this light wasabi (japanese horseradish) and flour batter and roasted to lock in the flavor (as those food industry types say). the result is a salty, hot, tangy, crunchy treat that currently has me wrapped in its wanton web of wasabiness.

i know when i've had my fill. it's marked by the pea coating become a fine powder in the back of my throat that kicks up like a devil wind and sends me into coughing convulsions. that's when i close the bag and put it up for the next nexus with nirvana.

it's gotten to where i can only think of where my next wasabi pea is coming from. it's almost reaching the proportions of my boba tea addiction.

these ball-shaped asian snacks will be the end of me. but what a way to go!

*rhyming slang for "kids," don't you know, yo, yo.
