imp time:

recently, i find myself itching to mix things up a bit. to add a dash of spice and a pinch of daring to the hohum everyday routine.

i'm trying to figure out how to work more of ameli�'s strategems into my life. that girl has it going on, no doubt.

flibbertigibbet is my word of the day....meaning imp or silly woman. ameli� is a bit of an imp. i'm down with the imp tip.

i'm not your performing chimp, but i'll be your adoring imp.

chimp time:

speaking of performing primates, it's official. i signed up for an audition for the next level of improv classes. it's less than two weeks away. gulp! i'm hoping the pre-tryout nerves--and corresponding loss of appetite--will help kickstart my campaign to get in shape. if it works, i'll market it as the "public humiliation diet."

when i called to make the audition appointment, i was pleased to find out that i don't have to shell out dough for a professional 8x10 after all. the phone jockey told me that "any old picture is fine." NOW they tell me. fortunately, i have a lovely shot that sxb took of me during our impromptu photo shoot on top of the empire state building during the three hours we crossed paths in nyc. hurrah!

pimp time:

do you like to samba? check out the beachcombing loveliness of smokey and miho. i caught their show awhile back at the knitting factory in l.a. and it was aural ambrosia! miho (of cibo matto fame) is the cutest human being in existence and her sweet, accented voice is the perfect compliment for lilting brazilian-style melodies. smokey (of beck- and tom waits-backing fame) looks like he walked out of o brother, where art thou? and has mellow gold vocal and guitar talents. one of their original songs appears on the soundtrack of y tu mam� tambi�n. you can buy their EP online, or, if you live in nyc, you can see them play at joe's pub on sunday, march 31st at 9 p.m. go, yo!
