coolest thing i've read this week:

this entry by jer. it reads like the first chapter of a critically acclaimed first novel.

i just caught up on his last few entries and he's been quoting foo fighters' lyrics. i've had one of the foo fighters' albums in my car's cassette deck all this week. i get really lazy about reaching in my little cassette holder in the back seat to pick a new tape. the good news is that i haven't tired of it. each time i hear this album, a different song will grab me.

for instance, i was driving home on friday night, super-stressed from work overload and their line, "how do you go on murdering someone, killing me like you do?" was exactly what i wanted to say to the big boss who keeps shoveling new projects down the already-packed pipe.

and for quieter moments, consider the lovely lyric: "tonight i'm tangled in my blanket of clouds, dreaming aloud."

i feel like the foo fighters are underrated. maybe it's just my perception, but i don't think people appreciate the brilliance of their music...especially their melodies. i know my buddy baggage understands. dave grohl, wherever you are...please know that you rock. thank you and goodnight.
