hey, HEY, hey!

from our payback is a bitch file:

yo, so work-friend-reader-on-the-sly boy has given me carte blanche, as opposed to almonds blanched, to reveal his diary address right here. perhaps he sees it as his penance...perhaps he is an attention ho...nevertheless, he is a good writer and a cool and funny person, so feel free to peruse his cerebrum at your leisure at tvzero.

ok, i've shared my blues song. i've shared my country song. but did i ever share my star wars song? i think not, nictators, i think not.

i wrote the lyrics to accompany the now beyond-famous john williams' theme song one evening after seeing the film.

i didn't get to see many movies on the big screen during my formative years because my mom was a cheap-ass.

sure, i got to see benji twice and loved that little dog movie beyond belief, but many was the time i craved a filmfest only to get the ixnay from ommay. i remember seething with resentment as i stormed away from the kitchen after another defeated movie trip request. i remember promising that my future grown-up self would take myself to the movies whenever i dern wanted to go.

so, since i saw fewer movies, and since i was smaller in general, the ones i did see had a BIG impact on me. like the time i saw chariots of fire and i couldn't stop myself from running up and down the driveway after we got home in the twilight coolness, knees pumping as high i could get them in imitation of the runners on-screen.

but back to my star wars song. that movie resonated with me and rocked my almost-seventh-grader world. (yes, i'm that old. and this was the original 1977 premiere mind you, not the "episode 4"-tagged re-release.) interviewers always ask movie people what was the first movie that gave them a love of movies or had the biggest impact on them. a lot of people answer that question with star wars, and so would i.

so after seeing the instant classic, its theme song played on reel-to-reel in my brain and i began to form words that would express to others that they should see this particular pelicula.

so without further ado. maestro!

nictate's lyrics to be sung to the star wars theme song. let's see how it translates.
