hi and stuff.

last night for a hoot, a friend of mine was clicking through online personal ads. she showed me the photo pages and then clicked on bios for more details to be read aloud. it was such a bizarre feeling. we decided it was like catalogue shopping.

presenting the new spring line...tommy, 32, a successful litigator, athletic and open-minded. available in tan. size medium.

side note: i swear "open-minded" is shorthand for "looking for possibility of kinky sex."

we felt bad chuckling, but it was amazing how the men would puff out their chests in text form...talking about entering iron man contests and earning several graduate degrees.

it was also trippy how many men put the age range for the woman they were looking for as 18-40 (picky much?) and selected "any" for their choice for the girl's religion, occupation, interests, etc. i guess that's what they mean by "open-minded"?

i started to feel a bit woozy at the barrage of faces, photos, "come hither" headlines and over-stuffed resumes.

there is that hope for people who use the service that there will be a gem of a person in the crowd who will be a great mate. and it does happen. i know a happily married couple who met via online dating. it's just that sorting process that is a bit daunting and dizzying.

hey, i have the internet to thank for my sweet petunia. heh. no complaints here.

i usually plug girlboy here, but i'm realizing that it doesn't need my links any longer. it's all growed-up! i'm just gonna add it to the link list to the left. it'll save on asterisks, see.
