there's blue in my ear.
hmmm...let me see...
yep, there's blue in my ear.
what a strange place to be.

i wonder how it got there,
in the side of my head,
i wonder how it fit there,
and why blue and not red?

will others now see it?
and point in dismay?
will others envy it?
and want to look the same way?

will having blue in one's ear
become a big trend?
making me famous
and rich enough to buy a benz?

will i become a sideshow freak?
the likes of lobster boy?
will i become a legend?
the likes of sigfreid and roy?

it's hard to know what will happen next.
for all i know, people won't care a bit.
they'll say, "get a q-tip, dude."
and i'll say, "that's it?!"

so here i linger,
in front of the mirror,
my blue ear's future
still dim and unclear.

i guess there's only one thing to do...
just to walk outside with little ado.
and face the music
come what may...

i'll play it by ear
and take it day by day.
