my homie stephanie was my secret santa at our traditional girlie holiday dinner last night.

it was a night of warm smiles and mouth-watering, carribean-inspired food and shared laughs and stories. a circle of six lovely girls.

my homie is living large in the big apple now. i'm so happy that she is making her adventure happen for herself. plus, i'm proud she's facing the tough stuff new york city can throw at a person and taking it in graceful stride.

her eyelids sparkled with gold flecks of glitter and her face sparkled with her trademark charm and joy.

i had to look at her a few times to make sure she was really there and not a vision. she was there! so was her famous giggle!

my homie gave me a very cool photo art book with intriguing and disturbing images. i love it! she also gave me a pair of coppery earrings, each of which says the word "yes" behind a smooth glass coating.

"yes." what a wonderful word! what an amazing way to greet life. what an awesome way to remind me and others how to ac-cen-tu-ate the positve in the world.

thanks, homie! you rock and i love you. when i think of you and the other darling friends who sipped sangria and toasted each other last night, one word comes to mind:

YES!!!

i wish you a merry christmas! even if you don't celebrate the holiday, there's just too much good stuff about it not to share with everyone. today at work when talking about christmas anticipation, a girl said, "there's a difference in the air." she was so right. do you feel what i feel? i hope so, 'cause it feels mighty good. here's sending you and you and yes, dear you, love and figgy pudding!

***

i got your christmas cheer right here! nanette is our girlboy elf today...
