dear you:

there is something magical snap-crackle-and-poppin' under the surface of society. little worldwide wires connecting minds that would have never met otherwise. yes, girls and boys, i think you saw this one coming: the internet.

years ago, i used to be so grateful to have been born in time to witness the age of vcrs. watching a movie whenever you wanted instead of waiting a year to have it come on tv. whoa! beautiful thing. i was a simple girl with everyday concerns, you see. heh.

but to live in the age of the internet...now we're talking! the people connected to it give me all kinds of hope. smart people. funny people. sensitive people. amazing people. inspiring people. cooooool people.

driving home today, i recalled the smiling faces of grim and outbox from the photo he posted of them during their recent first meeting. they looked as pleased as punch...and i, among other readers, get to share their joy vicariously! how much more magical can it get? you couldn't afford the smoke and mirror bills.

sometimes i drive to work and catch sight of a random person looking glum at a bus stop and think: "they're probably not even online. they're so missing out! poor soul."

all the magic flowing around us. you're part of that magic, you know. yep. i'm gonna start calling you mr. copperfield from now on.

in summation, i'd like to quote my favorite cross-country baker, rhetoric. he described the e-connection phenomenon in his thanksgiving day entry so well:

"i'll just say i'm thankful for what i have, and that i can share it. for people that read my ramblings and still communicate with me, and even those that do and don't. for everyone, whom i read, that writes. because it just makes the world a bit smaller, and i really need for distances to be shortened."
