today was a good day. i didn't have to use my AK.

today there was still the sheerest of sheer hopes that gore could win. even sheer hopes are enough sometimes.

today i got to catch up with my friend jean over a lunch of very delicious gourmet-type sandwiches. two words: panini, dude.

today that same friend and i snuck into a candy store and got some decadent treats.

today one of my meetings got cancelled and the one i had to go to was pretty painless.

today i suggested an idea in that meeting and got some "good idea" nods from the group. it's amazing how we're all still kids looking for approval, even as grown-ups sitting around a big, impressive conference room table.

today i got to exchange e-mails with a couple of extremely cool people.

today i got to have dinner with two of my favorite friends, karina and patricia. when i walked in the door and saw their smiling faces in the lamplight, my heart did a little happy leap.

today i got to hear karina's little boy squeal "cool!" when i handed him a spider-man poster.

today i made progress on this non-fiction book project my friend annette and i are working on. man, this attempted author stuff is hard work!

today i put "while you were sleeping" in the vcr to keep me company while i typed on my computer. nothing like a good romantic comedy to give a nice glow to an evening. that sandra bullock is cuter than heck. if i ever write a screenplay, i want her to play the female lead. hopefully i'll finish it before she's ready for mother roles.

today i got to catch up on some of my favorite online journals and stumbled across two lovely entries by the divine miss kuinileti (about her revived love of books) and malice's lovely and lyrical take on birth and rebirth. please go read them. you'll be glad you did. and please wish the ever-sweet rhetoric quick healing for his broken collarbone. they, and all the people linked to your left, help put the "wonderful" in worldwide web.
