i love food.

i used to work with a painfully skinny girl who liked to spout phrases like, "everyone feels fat in their own weigh" and "some people eat to live, some people live to eat."

that latter one? that'd be me.

whenever i'd make a pronouncement at the dinner table like: "i love spaghetti," my grandma would chide me and say semi-sternly:

"you can't love things. you can only love people."

hmmmm. nope! i disagree.

i love boba tea.

i love flake candy bars from england.

i love garlic.

i love coca-cola.

i love pad thai.

i love thai tea.

i love pico de gallo.

i love beans. (hi beans! mwaaa!)

i love rice pudding.

i love fudgsicles.

i love baby carrots.

i love watermelon juice.

i love movie popcorn.

i love pizza with black olives.

i love burritos. most of all.

heh. esol told me right: food is love.

editor's note: retraction

you know how i was harping endlessly in yesterday's entry about how my former paramours never gave me heartfelt, homemade gifts...just dumb roses and perfume? well, i had a third revelation today in the car.

both desert storm and vietnam deserve my apologies. desert storm not only gave me that cool, collage-y easter basket shoe box, he also made me--at different points in our relationship--mix tapes.

i never really thought about the "bigger picture" significance of the tapes, until my friend karina reacted with "wow! tapes like that take so much time to make...first, you have to pick out the songs and then sit down for hours to record them. that shows how much he cared."

desert storm had an amazing range of musical tastes and introduced me to all kinds of good stuff. those tapes are still among my favorites--including the pop ditty that was "our song"--"prettiest eyes" by beautiful south. have you ever heard it? it don't get much more charmy love mushy pretty poppy than that.

the lyrics are the words of an elderly man to his elderly wife about how each line in her face reminds him of scenes from their life together. so, desert storm...despite all the crap you dished out, you did good, too.

and vietnam actually drew two portraits of me at different points in our relationship. he had so much talent and spent hours making two tributes to his girl. well, i'll be damned. i guess i have been visited by the thoughtfulness fairy before. sorry to whine back there. of course, none of this discounts my overwhelmedness at rhetoric's cookie gesture. alright then. let's just say there's a lot of love in the room. be careful or some might get on you. ;)

speaking of love, let's see what dear girl kuinileti would love in a boy over at the hip and ever-so-happenin' girlboy
